Jon Moxley vs Mark Davis
JON MOXLEY VS MARK DAVIS (10/17/2026)
This match was as real as wrestling gets. Moxley, battling 2 previous losses, grief from the passing of his friend and stablemate, and a now-wavering self-confidence, has to go up against the man who represents all of that to him. The goliath, "Dunkzilla" Mark Davis. The match is under Continental rules, so no Death Riders ringside for Mox, he has to battle his own demons himself.
And there is only one way to do that. You can't go around it, you can't go over it, you have to go through.
Throughout the match, Davis is absolutely brilliant at just completely killing Moxley's momentum. There is this one sequence where Moxley batters him with numerous great strikes, forearms, punches, slaps to the ribs, then once Mox goes off the ropes Davis just KILLS him with a lariat. Davis this whole match was fantastic, he stood for everything Jon had to overcome, not just another opponent.
Of course, this match was about Jon Moxley. His battle with Davis, his battle with his ego, and his battle with his grief. And he put on probably the best performance of his career, and he did that by showing how much the passing of PAC had taken a toll on him, how the previous 2 losses to Mark took a toll on him, he led his real personality and his real life bleed into the Moxley we saw on screen, and that is something we don't usually see.
The apron piledriver was gross, just thought that was worth highlighting.
The highlight of the match obviously after that nasty pile driver was Marina Shafir and Daniel Garcia going to front row to will Moxley on. Every single damn person in that arena instantly turned into a Moxley believer. YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH MOX!!!
All in all, could the finish have been better? Yeah. Was Moxley a bit much at some points? Totally. But this match was as pure and honest and just damn heartwarming as wrestling gets man. It was gorgeous, and Moxley has a disgusting bladejob that honestly adds a lot. I love wrestling so much.
